TOM BURLINSON
In 1981 Tom was cast in the title role in the feature film ‘The Man from Snowy River’. It was an enormous box office success, and led to Tom being offered a succession of leading roles in Australian and international films and mini-series over the next several years. These included ‘Phar Lap’, ‘Eureka Stockade’, ‘Flesh and Blood’, ‘Windrider’, ‘Piece of Cake’, and ‘The Legend of Kootenai Brown’ as well as ‘The Man from Snowy River I I ’.
And then came 'Frank'. In Tom's own words...
"After the success of ‘Frank’ it became clear that there would be an on-going demand for the musicians and I to provide entertainment for corporate events, to perform in concert for publicly-funded organisations and to appear at fund-raising nights for charities.
Thus we developed ‘Tom Burlinson - Swingin’ Sinatra Style’ in which we present a selection of songs from the show – essentially Sinatra’s greatest hits! I can be accompanied by a fabulous 16-piece big band for larger rooms or outdoor events, but we also have musical arrangements for an 8-piece ensemble if space is limited." |

SWING CENTRAL (QLD)
Have you heard the latest swing sensation? Pack up and come fly away with the best swing band around. Picture yourself dancing cheek to cheek with your loved one, to music of a time less hurried, where women adorned in hats and gloves were wooed by handsome strangers in the night. To a time when crooners like Sinatra, Dean Martin and Nat King Cole were making jazz a popular art form.
Queensland based Swing Central recreates the mood and ambience of the nightclubs of the fabulous forties and fifties, to celebrate the class and style of times gone by. For older folk, we hope to rekindle memories of the first time they heard these songs, and for the younger audience, expose them to a style and elegance they have only heard about.
Indulge in a Martini, sit back and relax to the smooth crooning vocals of Mr. Brad Lever. Sophisticated and profound as anything by Tony Bennett, Brad combines Ph.D. intellect with caveman machismo, mixed in a blender of pure swing, guaranteed to grab even the most Sinatra proof listener way down at the bottom of the soul. With the addition of three of Brisbane's finest musicians, the results can only be described as breathtakingly authentic.
