the angels

THE ANGELS

With a career spanning over 30 years, the band will play all their classic hits along with a few other tunes that fans won’t have heard at previous concerts. Rick, "With a large repertoire it’s easy to forget about songs and looking at the list now I remember how
much I used to enjoy playing some of these songs in the 80's. We used to open the show with 'Small Price to Pay' (what a great groove) ... and then there were songs like 'Underground' and 'Staring Voices', which brought out the best in Doc's theatrical
approach...

Axle Whitehead

AXLE WHITEHEAD

Naturally, up until now, most people will only know Axle from his work on television, his popular and high-profile stint as host of Channel Ten’s Video Hits and maybe even from his brief appearance in the first ever series of Australian Idol .

From the first listen of Axles new music you will hear a musical revelation that showcases Axle as a serious singer/songwriter, as well as a vocalist and musician of considerable skill and invention...

By the end of the year the group had set new sales records in this country, dominating the charts & concert scene, and became the first Australian band to make a real impact on the US touring circuit playing major concerts with Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple, Captain Beefheart, Little Feat, Linda Rondstat, Earth Wind & Fire, Elvin Bishop & more & releasing albums worldwide on Reprise Records.

BRIAN CADD

Axiom 1969-71 - Brian and Don had formed a strong writing partnership and after the demise of The Groop they put together what is generally considered Australia’s first supergroup: Axiom. The rest of the all-star line-up consisted of former Twilights lead singer Glenn Shorrock, Valentines drummer Doug Lavery (later replaced by Don Lebler) and Cam-Pact singer-guitarist Chris Stockley. Much of their work exhibited the influence of The Band, whose first two albums had cast their spell on so many musicians, including George Harrison and Eric Clapton. Don and Brian co-wrote all of Axiom’s original material, including the hit singles Arkansas Grass, A Little Ray of Sunshine and My Baby's Gone, and the band recorded two very fine LPs, Fool’s Gold (Fable, 1969) and If Only (Warner-Reprise, 1971), the latter recorded in London and produced by the legendary Shel Talmy...

The Screaming Jets

THE SCREAMING JETS

Before Silverchair came along The Screaming Jets were the most popular band to emerge from the Australian industrial town, Newcastle. More than Silverchair, The Jets' music is a product of that town. When the original band members were growing up in Newcastle they faced a future of either working in the steelworks and associated industries or not working at all. In a town like that the locals live hard, drink hard and want their rock hard. The Screaming Jets gave them what they wanted...
