THE OLD ROMANTICS - The Most Pretentious Band in the Universe

You Just Can’t Get Enough!

The Old Romantics will revive your fondest memories of the most pretentious movement in popular music, the New Romantic era.

When the world had had enough of punk, a group of English Nancy-boys headed up by characters like Steve Strange, Boy George and Marc Almond rebelled with a new brand of highly produced, grandiose, but above all danceable hits that bought the fun back into clubs and pubs.

Songs like Tainted Love, You Spin Me Right Round, Just Can’t Get Enough and Don’t You Want Me got people smiling again, and they’re sure to make you smile again now!

You mightn’t see it through the makeup, but The Old Romantics have been working professionally all over the world in high profile bands for may years, and the result is a tight and entertaining stage show – complete with costumes, synthesizes and hexagonal electronic drums – that makes every performance a night to remember!

“One of the most entertaining live bands I’ve seen in a long time”
Steve Vizard

FEATURING THE EXTRAORDINARY TALENTS OF:

Timmy Mangina

Everything about him about screams 80’s, even his IQ.   But his booming New Romantic voice will transport you… If you close your eyes you’ll think you’re back at The Blitz nightclub in London circa 1982.  Just don’t keep them closed for too long if Timmy’s around!

Christophe LeBon

Enigmatic, charismatic, aromatic and bureaucratic. Christophe plays a mean guitar yet is a very generous person himself.  Strange.  He also sings like an angel, but not Doc Neeson, the other type.

Spandau Barry

Driving funky bass and angelic harmony vocals more than makes up for the fact that Barry thought it was Spandex Barry for the first 5 rehearsals.

Alan Ant

Adam’s lesser known brother Lubric seems to make the keyboards sound like an entire symphony orchestra, whereas it was a Japanese sound technician that did all the real work… still, at least he’s kept his figure!

Boy John

Pounding electro drums are a signature of the New Romantic era, and for that matter pounding headaches the next morning.  John always delivers an electric performance for a man who dresses like a girl…
