COMEDIANS PG1

DAVE HUGHES

Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes is perhaps one of the most important and significant talents to have emerged from the Australian comedy scene in the last ten years. A natural and unmistakably Australian comic, Dave’s laconic style thinly disguises one of the fastest comic minds this country has ever seen.

Often referred to as “a typical Aussie bloke”, comedian Dave Hughes is an unusual success story.

From working-class roots, the university drop-out and former abattoir worker has risen to become one of Australia’s most popular and successful stand-up comedians.

His honesty and laconic humour led to several long-term hosting roles on television and radio, most recently on KIIS and MIX FM Drive nationally, and Channel Nine’s AFL Footy Show.

“Hughes is skilled, appealing to all and always in control. Excellent.”
The Age, Melbourne

DAVE THORNTON

Human. Comedian. Sometimes actor and breathing enthusiast. With his accessible humour and free flowing style, Dave’s success as a comic has quickly broadened into a range of performance credits on TV, radio and stage.

Dave has gone on to appear as a panelist on Good News Week, ' Talkin’ bout Your Generation' and The (7pm) Project. He was also a weekly team member on Channel 7’s panel show The White Room… for both weeks it was on air. Dave was a regular on Comedy Inc- The Late Shift in 2007 and showed another side by (pseudo) serious acting in an ongoing role in ABC’s Bed of Roses, which aired in 2008. Alas his character in BOR went off to Perth and has since never returned for the preceding 2 seasons (I think the time difference is too much for him to handle).

To add to his resume Dave also lent his hand to radio while doing both the national Summer and Winter programmes on NovaFM, Saturday morning shows & numerous Breakfast fill-in gigs. Dave has worked with such comedians as Adam Hills, Dave O’Doherty (IRE), Tripod, Dave Hughes and many, many more. In all of this he still fits in time to play, or realistically limp through, division-C Thursday night basketball. He is a Sagittarian who enjoys long walks in the park and getting caught in the rain.

DAVE O'NEIL

Dave O’Neil has been in the business of comedy for over 20 years. The Age newspaper calls him “one of our most accomplished stand-ups”, and with good reason - he has performed at 12 Melbourne International Comedy Festivals, and at various comedy clubs around the country.

As well as his stand up career, Dave is a skilled radio broadcaster, and has been a part of successful teams on Nova 100, Vega 91.5/Classic Rock FM, and most recently on 774 ABC Radio in Melbourne. He has also become a regular part of successful TV shows such as Spicks and Specks, as well as Adam Hills in Gordon St Tonight, and Good News Week: not to mention that he is an Australian film and sketch comedy actor and the author of several books!

Dave’s observational humour and genuine humility have made him a much sought-after MC and corporate entertainer.

RUSTY AND ANOTHER GUY

After 20 years as half of Australia’s favourite musical comedy duo, The Scared Weird Little Guys, Rusty Rich (the little one) continues the musical hijinks and slick silliness that established The Scaredies as one of the most sought-after corporate acts in the country.

Rusty now joins with the fabulous Mike McLeish (the other guy) – an accomplished musical theatre performer and improviser who famously played Paul Keating in Keating: The Musical for three years. Together, they continue the tradition of high energy, musical skill and heavenly harmonies blended with quick-witted improvisation and song parodies.

They make an entertaining addition to any type of event and can even offer a specially written song, tailored to suit any company or message.

MARTY FIELDS

Marty Fields is a rapid-fire power station of material and one of the genuine big guns on the Australian comedy circuit. His seasoned career on classic Aussie TV shows Hey Hey it's Saturday, Blankety Blanks, and The Battle of the Sexes has made him a famous face and a household name.

Marty is considered one of Australia’s great comedy exports, and has toured the United States three times, including headlining for a week at the New York Comedy Club in Manhattan.

Author of three best-selling comedy books, Marty also has a comedy radio show and writes a regular column for the Herald Sunnewspaper. He has been nominated for the MO award for the Best Stand-Up Comedian in the country.

ELLIOT GOBLET

Elliot Goblet is the ideal corporate comedian – very dry and very, very funny. The king of straight-faced one-liners, Elliot is in constant demand as a corporate presenter and comedian.

Need something specifically tailored? Look no further. As a talented writer, Elliot can create a comedy spot around target employees and managers for a much more personal and memorable experience.

His presence has graced many popular productions including Fat Pizza and Hey Hey It’s Saturday, as well as comedy performances worldwide. With so many appearances over the years, it would be hard to find a person who hasn't seen him perform! Good, clean, fast and very funny.

AUSTEN TAYSHUS

Over the last thirty years, Austen Tayshus has made hit records, performed thousands of stand-up shows in venues all over the world, won Best Actor and Best Film in Tropfest, appeared in feature films and shorts and written TV shows and films. His spoken-word single Australiana was the highest-selling single in Australian recording history!

Austen Tayshus has developed a style of stand-up which is highly provocative, politically incorrect, innovative, improvisational and unsettling.  He polarises every audience: even those who don’t get it feel compelled to stay to the end. He regards the stand-up genre as limited only to the imagination of its practitioner. In other words - limitless. Scary!

FAULTY TOWERS THE DINING EXPERIENCE

Enter the world of the snobbish, manic Basil, his domineering wife Sybil, and the hopeless language-challenged waiter Manuel.  Be part of the steady stream of bemused guests trying to make Manuel understand what it is you want.  Innocently ask for an ‘ice bucket’ and you’ll probably end up with a ‘nice bucket’; a simple task like opening a bottle of wine can become a huge drama; and Maybe, just maybe, in the middle of all these events, you might get some service – Faulty style of course.  Everything that can go wrong will - in fact, this can best be described as organised chaos!

Since its debut in 1997, thousands of people have enjoyed the fun, abuse and service of Basil, Sybil and Manuel in public shows, private conference dinners and functions throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

JIMEOIN

Jimeoin is acclaimed as one of the hottest stand-up comics of this generation - a true comedy master. A prolific writer with an exceptional audience rapport, he is known and loved for his brilliantly funny wit and charming observations on the absurdities of every-day life.

A regular at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe Festival, all his Australian tours attract sell-out advance bookings. In addition to live appearances, Jimeoin is a familiar face on Australian television. Jimeoin has appeared on many popular variety and comedy TV shows, and his self-titled show Jimeoin aired nationally on the Seven Network for three series.

Jimeoin wrote and starred in his own feature film titled The Craic (1999). In its opening weekend, “The Craic” became the second highest grossing box office movie in Australian-produced film history. It has since been released on video/DVD throughout western speaking countries, including his native Ireland.
