HOODOO GURUS

The Hoodoo Gurus formed in 1981, playing their first “show” in a Sydney lounge room. Little did they know that come 2007, they would be ARIA Hall of Fame residents, with a string of hits including What’s My Scene, My Girl and Come Anytime.

Twenty-something years on from that lounge room, the band is still celebrated as a powerful influence on the Australian 80s rock scene. Asked about the Hoodoo Gurus’ influence on Aussie rock music, chief Guru Dave Faulkner said, “I see it in lots of things going on, but whether it’s our influence or people that we were influenced by, who can tell? I see our way of thinking.”
